When Your Mind Won’t Switch Off
Therapy for Anxiety, Overthinking & OCD
From the outside, you seem calm and capable. Inside, your mind rarely rests. You replay conversations, run through every possible outcome, and look for certainty before you can feel settled. Even when things are going well, part of you is scanning for what could go wrong.
Overthinking often feels like being responsible. If you think it through one more time, maybe you’ll catch the mistake, prevent the problem, or finally feel sure. But the relief never lasts, and the next doubt is already waiting.
For some people, the loop takes a more specific shape. An unwanted thought or image shows up; it feels urgent or disturbing, and you find yourself checking, analyzing, or seeking reassurance to make it go away. This is often how OCD works, and it’s more common and more treatable than most people realize.
Anxiety isn’t a sign that something is wrong with you. It’s a protective system working too hard. Therapy helps you understand what it’s trying to protect and how to stop letting it run your life.
Moving from Constant Worry to Steady Ground
What therapy helps with
Constant what-ifs, running through worst-case scenarios and trying to plan for every possible outcome.
Replaying and over-analyzing, going back over conversations, decisions, or mistakes long after they’re over.
Intrusive thoughts, unwanted thoughts or images that feel disturbing, out of character, or hard to shake.
Reassurance-seeking and checking: asking others, searching online, or mentally reviewing until it feels “right”.
Difficulty making decisions, getting stuck in doubt and the fear of choosing wrong.
A body that won’t settle, a tight chest, shallow breathing, restless sleep, or tension that never fully lets go.
Panic, sudden waves of fear that seem to come out of nowhere.

Therapy for Anxiety, Overthinking & OCD
-
OCD is a form of anxiety, but it has a specific pattern: an intrusive thought creates distress, and a ritual or mental habit follows to reduce it. Over time, that cycle keeps the fear going. A consultation can help clarify what you’re experiencing.
-
If OCD is part of the picture, ERP involves gradually facing the thoughts and situations that trigger anxiety while learning not to respond with compulsions. It’s done step by step, at a pace we agree on together. Nothing is forced. The goal is to teach your brain that you can handle uncertainty, so the fear loses its grip over time.
-
Reassurance and analysis bring short-term relief, but they also teach your brain that the doubt was dangerous and needed solving. So the doubt comes back, often stronger. Part of our work is learning to tolerate not knowing for sure, which is what eventually brings lasting calm.
-
Yes. Many people I work with are still functioning well. They’re getting things done, showing up for work and family, but their mind never switches off. You don’t have to wait until things fall apart. Therapy can help you feel more at ease now, before anxiety takes a bigger toll.
